Indonesia National Human Rights Action Plan: A Commitment to Uphold Human Rights

Human rights are fundamental to the dignity and well-being of every person. They are universal, indivisible, and interdependent. As a member of the international community, Indonesia is committed to promoting and protecting human rights in the country. One of the ways to demonstrate this commitment is by developing and implementing a National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP). This essay will discuss the importance of the NHRAP in Indonesia and its significance in promoting and protecting human rights.

The National Human Rights Action Plan is a document that outlines the government's policies, programs, and activities to promote and protect human rights. It is a strategic roadmap that identifies the human rights issues, sets goals and objectives, and specifies the actions required to achieve them. The NHRAP serves as a tool for coordination among various government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders in the promotion and protection of human rights. The development of the NHRAP in Indonesia was initiated in 2006 by the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM). The first NHRAP was launched in 2007 and covered the period from 2007 to 2012. The second NHRAP was launched in 2015 and covered the period from 2015 to 2019. The current NHRAP covers the period from 2020 to 2024.
